From The Podcast Show
Last week my business partner Emily Page and I traveled to London, UK for the biggest podcast conference of them all, The London Podcast Show. It was the festival's 5th edition, held May 20–21 at the Business Design Centre in Islington, drawing record attendance from delegates across more than 50 countries.
I’m writing a week later so I know you may well have read a summary or two already from the event. I’ll keep my thoughts brief:
The Uncomfortable Moment: Jeanine Wright and the AI Podcast Machine
If The Podcast Show London 2026 had a villain, the audience found her on stage.
Jeanine Wright, CEO of Inception Point AI, produces AI-generated podcast slop at a scale that is difficult to absorb: 10,000 episodes per week, over a million monthly listeners, and 400,000 subscribers across major platforms, driven by just twelve humans and eight “full-time agentic employees.”
The flashpoint at the conference came over a pre-existing controversy. Inception Point AI had produced shows in which AI hosts presented themselves as medical doctors. Wright confirmed this has changed, saying the company no longer labels its AI personalities as doctors or licensed professionals, though they may still claim to be experts who are “well read and well studied.” When pressed by Dan Kendall of healthpodcast.org on whether she would remove older shows where the AI claimed to be a doctor, she declined: “We have not taken down any content we have ever made.” One attendee described her work as “upsetting, apocalyptic, and incredibly disappointing.”
Wright also announced what she called “the world’s first totally autonomous podcaster,” a system where AI personalities independently decide what to create, how long it should be, where to place ads, and which audiences to target. A human currently reviews content before publication, though Wright acknowledged she expects to remove even that step eventually.

One Answer to AI-Generated Podcasting: Label It
Clearly labeling AI-generated podcast content is one concrete step the industry can take, and it looks like it may actually happen. The Podcast Standards Project, a grassroots coalition of hosting companies and listening apps, held a meetup at The Podcast Show London last week and reached clear consensus: podcasting needs a standard way to disclose when content is AI-generated. Alberto from RSS.com is writing up a formal proposal for how hosting companies might implement it consistently across the board.

Are People Just Uploading Your Show’s Transcript into Gen AI?
I love the smaller bits of strategy I uncover at these events. At one of his sessions, Jeremy Enns noted a growing trend where people don’t bother listening to your podcast, they just block copy your transcript and dump it in Claude or Chat GPT to get the main points.
Getting Viewers to Listen to Your Podcast
And of Signal Hill Insights talked about how just because people find your podcast on YouTube doesn’t mean they’ll automatically look for your audio episodes on Apple or Spotify. You gotta make that easily available to them
6 Stats Every Podcaster Should See
Podcasters are working harder than ever, but a new survey reveals the gaps between effort and results are wider than you’d think. RSS.com surveyed 195 of its creators in Q2 2026 on everything from growth to AI to money:
Growth is the grind: 62% publish weekly or more, yet 70% still call audience growth their biggest challenge
Video is mainstream: 51% of podcasters now record video; 63% of those say it’s helped them grow
AI is in the workflow: 56% are using or testing AI tools, mostly for transcripts, show notes, and repurposing
No single discovery channel: Listeners arrive via podcast apps (31%), social media (29%), and word of mouth (20%) with no one channel dominating
Monetization hesitation: 61% aren’t monetizing, and the top reason isn’t lack of options but audience size
Simplicity over features: Podcasters’ #1 ask isn’t more tools; it’s less friction in their publishing workflow
