When and How Listeners Find You

I was reading Semrush’s new SEO Trends report for 2025 and one idea really stood out to me. They emphasize how important conversational and question-based keywords have become as people turn to search engines and AI tools with full questions instead of short phrases.

That clicked for me because it feels directly relevant to podcasting. If you are producing a financial investing show, think about how your listeners might actually phrase their searches, such as “what are the safest investments during inflation” or “how do infrastructure funds generate returns.”

Writing your show notes and episode descriptions around those natural questions makes your content more discoverable and easier to surface in search. I can see this being a simple shift that pays off in terms of new audience growth.

Featured Insight

A new BrightEdge report shows YouTube dominates as the video source most often cited by AI, accounting for roughly 20% of prompts compared with just 0.01% for Vimeo and TikTok. The analysis covers platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s Gemini. It also highlights the types of YouTube content most likely to be indexed: product tutorials, how-to guides, and user reviews, videos that directly answer questions.

The Podcast Listening Clock

Podcasts have found a new home in the midday slump. Edison Research Q3 2025 data shows that the largest share of podcast listening happens between 10am and 2pm, right when many people reach for that second cup of coffee. This is no longer only about commuting audio but about becoming a companion for recharging, focus, or breaking up the workday. At the same time more than 1 in 10 podcast listening hours occur after 10pm, which proves that night owls matter too. The takeaway is that podcasts are now woven into multiple rhythms of daily life, from productivity dips to midnight scrolls.

Podcast Stat of the Week

According to Matt Shapo at the IAB Podcast Upfront recently, podcast advertising is projected to surpass $3 billion in 2025 for the first time. Ad Results Media, reflecting on the event, noted that audio’s future is becoming louder, smarter, and increasingly visual.

Pro Tip or Tool

Lots of podcasters use Audacity, the open-source audio editor. It’s preparing for a major redesign. A pre-alpha version is available for download, though one YouTuber who tested it gave a poor review. In the linked video, discussion of the redesign starts around 5:15.
